Poland's largest retail chain Biedronka, owned by Portuguese Jeronimo Martins Biedronka plans to open over 120 new stores net in Poland in 2026 and refurbish around 250 stores, Jeronimo Martins announced in a statement. In Slovakia, around 35 stores under the Biedronka brand are planned to open in 2026.

The company plans to implement its first automated warehouse project and open a new distribution centre, bringing the total number to 18.

The Hebe drugstore chain is set to expand in Poland this year by around 30 new locations, with the e-commerce channel remaining at the heart of its development strategy.

Jeronimo Martins notes that fierce competition persists in Poland, with consumers focusing primarily on low prices and promotions. Food price inflation is low, so – in the company’s view – maintaining operational discipline is key to profitability.
